New Student Registration Process
Registration information:
Fall 2012 Traditional Enrollment
Traditional enrollment at NSHS is determined based upon availability and completion of the enrollment process. New student applications are submitted online and will be accepted from February 1, 2012 – July 31, 2012. Upon completion of the online application, both student and parent must visit Nevada State High School and complete the registration paperwork process. Registration hours will be 1:00PM-5:00PM Monday-Thursday, and 1:00PM-3:00PM on Friday. Once a student has completed the required paperwork and the initial steps of the registration process, they will proceed with the three phases to becoming successfully enrolled at Nevada State High School.
New Students Qualifications:
- All applicants must be entering their Junior or Senior year
- All Junior applicants must have a minimum of 11 credits
- All Senior applicants must have a minimum of 17 credits
- All applicants must have a 2.0 GPA or above
Three Phases to Enroll:
- Registration
- Testing and scheduling
- Enrollment
Phase 1: Registration
Students must complete and bring in the following documents to register between 1:00PM-5:00PM Monday-Thursday, and 1:00PM-3:00PM on Friday:
- A signed NSHS Registration Form that you print from your email;
- A signed/completed copy of the NSHS Health Form (Click HERE);
- A copy of your updated immunization records;
- A copy of your birth certificate;
- A copy of ALL Nevada High School Proficiency scores;
- A copy of your most recent transcript (official transcript to be forthcoming)**
NOTE: Please remember that both the student and parent must be present at the time of registration. Additionally, to successfully retrieve your application you must have the email you entered from the online form you completed.
* After two-weeks of non-activity, your registration will be frozen and you will be purged from our system. Our enrollment is limited, and you will be sacrificing your current position in the school enrollment process by not submitting these required documents in a timely manner.
** An unofficial transcript will hold a student's spot at the school until the end of the current semester. Students have until June 30, 2012 to submit an official transcript from their current school. A transcript is official only when it is STAMPED and SIGNED by the current school's registrar.
Phase 2: Testing & Scheduling
Once students have submitted the required paperwork, they will take a college math and English placement exam to determine what college levels they will take for the following semester. All students must test at Nevada State High School AND at College of Southern Nevada to determine the courses and location. Upon completion of the placement test a student will attend a one-on-one scheduling session with a member of the NSHS staff.

Phase 3: Enrollment
Students will be accepted to the NSHS program based on completion of the registration process, meeting eligibility for admittance, having a complete class schedule, and availability of openings (determined by lottery past 299 students). Students are "enrolled" at NSHS the day they actually start the school.
Spring Semester Enrollment
Mid-semester enrollment at NSHS is determined based upon spot availability. New student applications are accepted from December 1 - December 15. Acceptance is based on completion of the registration process, including a complete class schedule and determined upon a lottery basis. Students who are not accepted are encouraged to apply to the program for the fall semester/traditional enrollment.
